  • Spring Shoe Trends for 2010

    4 Feb 2010 | 3:01 pm
I'm going to be serving up all the hottest Spring shoes for the entire family over the next few weeks, and I'm kicking the season off with a sneak peek at some of the hottest trends for women. The hottest Spring shoe trends for 2010 are really a bit of an updated mashup of what we've seen the past few years, the notable exception being that wedge heels have completed their comeback after a hiatus of a few years. For a closer look at what's to come, be sure to have a look at some of the other top Spring shoe trends for women. Pictured: Kelsi Dagger 'Sydney' (Buy Direct)Image Courtesy of…
  • Steve Madden Shoes for Women

    31 Jan 2010 | 4:01 pm
It's not unusual to find a slew of sexy Steve Madden shoes, but I'm particularly smitten with several of the most recent styles in his lineup. I think it's all the suede, and feminine embellishments. Whatever it is, they're hot. Here a few of my favorite styles in SteveMadden shoes.Pictured: Steve Madden 'Regaal' (Buy Direct)Image: SteveMadden.com Steve Madden Shoes for Women originally appeared on About.com Shoes on Monday, February 1st, 2010 at 00:01:56.Permalink | Comment | Email this

  • Shoe Deal of the Week: Nine West Pumps on Sale

    28 Jan 2010 | 2:45 am
One of the best shoe deals I've seen this week is on these popular Nine West pumps. When I featured the 'Bonfire' last year, so many women commented on how much they liked them, that I thought I'd share the fact that they're now on sale for 40% off of their original price. I have no idea how long the sale will last, but it looks like they're going pretty fast, as there is very limited stock on most of the size and color combinations I checked. Available in a variety of colors and materials, these open-toed pumps are versatile enough to take you from a meeting to dinner, and will work with…

I know, I know.  Most of the men-folk who would actually benefit from a not-so-subtle guide to Valentine’s Day gifts for their shoe-loving sweeties are likely preoccupied by today’s big game. And yes, I know many women will be watching, too (the Superbowl, for those truly unaware few out there today). But, I am making the effort nonetheless. Call it a public service. If the half-time ads are particularly unimpressive, at least you’ll have today’s online shoe-break covered. And, if you can get your sweetie to take a peek and perhaps start thinking shoes rather than…
  • Sundance Style: The Catalog

    fancyfeet
    5 Feb 2010 | 10:28 pm
Now that the 2010 Sundance Film Festival has ended and I’m back home, everyone asks me if I saw Robert Redford. I did indeed! Each year he surprises me with his style. Last year, he wore a beret to the opening day press conference and this year he wore a western-inspired ensemble. And that hair! Oh my! At some point during the festival, I picked up a Sundance catalog. The outfit on the front cover (peasant blouse, cardigan, and skinny jeans tucked into low boots) intrigued me, and the catalog is actually rather awesome! In addition to clothes, jewelry, and furniture, Sundance sells some…
  • Arche Plays the Magic Card: “Sale”

    trainingheels
    4 Feb 2010 | 8:25 pm
This style, similar to the Gattaz, was on sale for $250. But it was really this boot, on sale for $300, that I fell for. With a suede upper part of its upper and a leather lower portion, a diagonal buckle, fine, precise stitching, the sirenesque color and a practical wedge, it was a practical stunner with the best of many worlds. Unfortunately, I just didn’t think it looked as dynamite on. At least, not $300 dynamite. Good construction, average looks when on. Here is a similar pair or Arches online for sale on Ebay.

Though I wasn’t able to find the shoes below online, you can purchase them at your local Pucci store. If you’re buying Pucci in-store, I’m guessing you don’t need to worry that much about prices, and I’m jealous! What do you think of the whole black and white graphic look? It’s got an element of tough and punk. These black and white open toe graphic pumps are my fave that I’ve ever seen at Pucci. Love them! Very hip and fun and clean. Not such a fan of the prissy-punk-in-white-patent look, but they’re kinda fun with a white stocking for a…

A ton of money goes into ad campaigns as the fashion industry tries to convince us to purchase their product.  The US fashion industry alone spent $144 billion on advertising last year.   Several lines have released some of their ads for Spring and Summer 2010.   Some are great, some are not. Let’s have a look. Balenciaga Cesare Paciotti Jimmy Choo I am weary of the pouting, leggy girl, wearing nothing more than lingerie, heels and a come hither look, sitting or laying on a sofa/chair, with soft focus.  Virtually every shoe, handbag, fragrance, lingerie,…

  • Fashion: I Dress for Him or Her?

    Denise
    8 Feb 2010 | 11:15 am
I was just discussing this question with the girls over the weekend: ‘Do you think women dress up for men or other women?’ It just seems that any criticism a woman might receive on attire is from a another woman or a man totally not into women at all. Surely, your value is not graded by your material worth but by character? Right? Are men seriously attracted to the over-glamored woman, a woman with perfect hair, dramatized nails, labels, and other enhancements? Or do women include these ‘add-ons ‘just so the next woman can feel as though she lacks? A competitive spirit…

Here’s the link to the actual site which is under construction. 3News quotes SJP saying: “I think this is a brand new kind of business model, and it illustrates how serious I am about this position. Gail Oliver of Suite.101.com lends advice on what shoes are appropriate for the expecting mommys out there.  Her criteria includes shoes that have a ’supporting arch meanwhile puts pressure on the heel,’ flats, and slip-ons. She eliminates shoes with wedge, high or chunky heels. Makes sense to me. With that criteria in mind, here’s a shoe suggestion based on Oliver’s criteria. BCBG Sicily Flat Well, how did I do? This unusual style from French Connection is a rare example of a shoe with a 'spiked' heel I actually rather like. • Rain Boots to Brighten Your Cloudy Day

This morning was a cold reminder that the rainy season has not ended in sunny Southern California. My rain boots are in the garage right now, but I’m definitely excited to pull them out to jump through puddles and tuck my leggings into. They are bright blue with stripes, and I bought them more than three years ago. Luckily for me, they are still doing their job and keeping me dry! Rainboots are such a fun way to express yourself. Check out this collection of some of my favorites: so bright, so unique, and so fun! Plaid rain boots with a graphic tee, jumper, and sheer, textured tights.

  • Women’s Running Shoes: See Style Run

    Primrose
    31 Dec 2009 | 10:23 am
After a couple hours at the gym, I came home and took off my disheveled shoes. They were once white and didn’t feel as snug; the mid sole was wearing thin and the treads were running low. Runners advise us to change our running shoes every so often (300-400 miles). My running shoes have been with me for a while now, and I think it’s about time to get a new pair. I didn’t know which brands or styles to consider, and since I’m not very active (I’d rather run in heels), I had to ask for a “BFF” opinion. So I call up my dear friend Vina, who is the…

  • Keen Betty Boots to the Rescue!

    Kirsten Borrink
    8 Feb 2010 | 9:19 pm
Every snow-prone city has their gold-medal weather person. Here in Chicagoland, it's Tom Skilling. He explains a snowstorm in isobars, barometric pressure and lake effect potential. And baby, according to Tom, we've got a doozy coming. So where are YOUR snow boots? Pardon the lackluster photo above, but I get a kick out of it. Last week at the Y, I was hanging up my coat before starting my daily trudge on the treadmill when I saw them. Someone's Keen Betty Boots! I pretended to be selecting a Pandora station to listen to when in actuality I was snapping a photo of the boots. Is that weird?

Written by my galpal, Sarah H. who suffers from lives above rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and other autoimmune illnesses. I am writing this review on a beloved pair of Ara GORE-TEX boots. My motivation is to come to my dear friend’s aid, we are fellow sufferers of multiple autoimmune disorders and they, as you read on her Thursday’s review, can throw a woman’s life upside down in a heartbeat. These illnesses can also can cause some major foot problems, which is why I personally love my Barking Dog Shoes blog. About 10 years ago I worked with the fabulous sales people of various…
  • Stylish Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis: Do They Exist?

    Kirsten Borrink
    4 Feb 2010 | 8:44 pm
I'm not a podiatrist and I don't play one on my blog. But I do have that nagging plantar fasciitis, which I suspect you might have too. So what do we do, you and I, about our heel pain? Sure, we can roll our foot around on a tennis ball, wear all manner of torture-looking devices on our feet at night and put our Dr. prescribed orthotics in our P.W. Minor shoes, but come ON! Is that the best we can do? Not according to the Barking Dog who dug up a few great choices to alleviate the pain of plantar fasciitis while looking pretty darn good. Choices were made based on customer testimonial and…

  • Stylish, Comfortable Heels by Clark's

    1 Feb 2010 | 8:35 pm
Are you one of those people who thinks this would be the only high heel you could EVER be comfortable in?I have friends who think so, and I hope they will reconsider. With options out there like this beauty from Clark’s, there is no reason to give up the kicky, in-charge feeling you get from a wearing a great pair of heels. The Clark’s Diamond Sparkle gets high marks for comfort from Zappos customers. And isn’t it beautiful? Wardrobe suggestions: I would wear this shoe with pants and a semi-sheer, textured trouser sock, or with a dressy sweater, skirt and contrasting tights. Available…

    drshoe
    8 Feb 2010 | 2:06 pm
Nike is not generally known for width or durability. Zoom Nucleus MC+ however, gets an A in both of these categories. Although Zoom Nucleus MC+ only comes in a medium width it runs wide and is comparable to many other shoes that do come in wide widths (New Balance, Asics, Saucony). I also like that it flares on the outside forefoot of the outsole, which is something that many running shoes don’t have and need. The upper of this shoe also has a generous amount of mesh in the places you need it most if you have bunions or hammertoes. Finally, this shoe is extremely stable with not only…
  • Shoe Review – Zoot M Ultra Temp+ 2.0

    drshoe
    2 Feb 2010 | 9:23 pm
JM was trying to find better fitting racing flats (training) and was recommended Zoot Footwear by a Road Runner Sports brick and mortar store.  According to the Zoot website, their footwear is designed by and for triathletes to be easy-on, easy-drying and easy-off. I’m trying to figure out the new Giuseppe Zanotti Nappa Bianco shoes. High heels, golden swag border, enwrapped with a seemingly tattered American flag. Are they a symbol of protest, their wearers making a statement about their national despair? If so, these stilettos would be the perfect shoes for the teabaggers – if they weren’t always marching. Or, is the flag not tattered, but meant to look like it’s blowing in the wind, similar to those giant flags you see at car dealerships? They express fervent patriotism – ideal for the well-shod “real” American, all gussied up for a…

Lady Gaga and Daphne Guinness have worn them to great acclaim, while others – notably the R&B singer Kelis – haven’t quite had the panache to carry them off. Meanwhile, bringing the marketing plan to fruition, the designer’s spring ad campaign features a model  – whom I sincerely hope is getting combat pay…

As we struggle through the doldrums of winter, those of us in colder climes frequently turn our thoughts to the idea of Getting Away. As you look for footwear that supports these thoughts, I submit for your consideration: stone-embellished sandals and heels. Nothing evokes “island vacation” or, perhaps, “spa getaway” quite like stone-embellished sandals.  Smooth, seemingly water-worn stones adorn the most delicate of straps — is this not the perfect footwear for shopping in St. Thomas or strolling the boardwalk in Maui or enjoying a lovely outdoor lunch overlooking the sea in Koh…

I'd tried them on and knew they were a little bit small but I figured that they'd stretch naturally once I started wearing them. Ouch! I was wrong. Walking a few miles a day to campus and back and forth between classes was excruciating! I put them in the closet and have barely touched them since. I was debating whether or not to add them to the collection of shoes that I'd donated to Soles4Souls. But I couldn't quite…

Photo: Sassi Sam Photo: Shoeblog Last week's Weird Shoe Wednesday was pretty gross so this week, I chose some very pretty shoes. I wouldn't necessarily say they are weird-looking so much as it's a novel concept and I really hope it actually works. Pasquale Fabrizio, go-to cobbler/shoe guru for Hollywood, is releasing his own line of shoes called Q by Pasquale, an ALL-GLASS collection of high-heeled sandals. 30 Jan 2010 | 6:59 pm
This cold weather has me browsing the online shoe stores for new shoes and dreaming about wearing strappy sandals and open toe shoes. If you are ready for warmer weather where you are, I highly recommend checking out the new Spring shoes that are out now. Start planning early the shoes you will need to add to your collection this Spring. L.A.M.B. Shoes by Gwen Stefani are always so chick and sexy. Jeffrey Campbell is fast becoming one of my favorite shoe designers for keeping his line innovative and exciting. My fav shoe from his latest collection is the Charlie clog.  This clog has classic lines as you would expect from any traditional clog.  The brass tack detailing very much reminds me of my old clogs from the 70s (if any of you are old enough to remember those).  However, there are also some updated design features that make these clogs a show stopper today.   The strap is convertible and can be worn behind the ankle for support as well as a unique style (see picture below). I…

Frye Riding Boots are not only a classic boot but they are currently a popular style among boots trends this season. With all of the sky high heels and platforms, they are also a comfortable alternative to looking chic during Fall and Winter. Riding boots typically have a 1 inch or less heel, making them super comfy, yet stylish at the same time. Here are some of the latest riding boot styles by Frye… The Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot features a traditional, timeless silhouette with chic lines defined by a top stitched leather overlay on the front. Shown here in black, the Paige Riding Boot…
