It’s time to update my shoe closet and I couldn’t be more excited! Single sole pumps are back and sexier than ever! I know some of you have probably gotten used to wearing platforms but I promise you it’s a good idea to add these to your shoe collection. Despite how Bambi-ish or not your ankles are, single soles are flattering and offer more support than you realize. I find that there are very few high heel silhouettes that can go with just about any hem length in pants or skirts. Don’t be last to fall in love with the single sole trend! This light weight,…

This week I’m in love with the Kate Spade Licorice Glitter Point-Toe Pump in black. Licorice is the perfect description for this charcoal black color. The glitters are more of a muted sheen that’s reminiscent of the outer gloss of the licorice candy.  I appreciate that it’s not a BAM-in-your-face disco ball silver, the dark black glitters shimmer politely but oh so sexily back at you. This makes it a versatile shoe that’s appropriate for both a clubbing event or a fun holiday party at the workplace (with a red cocktail dress might I suggest?). Plus the varying sizes of large and…

Edgy, spunky, and playful Iron Fist footwear is unlike any other brand you have seen. Made for the girl who loves attention and isn’t afraid to be different, these bold shoes give fashion an arrogant kick to move out of the way. I personally love their unapologetic bold designs and they way the combine flirty and rebellious. Make a statement and be the center of attention the next time you go out in a pair of totally awesome Iron Fist flats or crazy sky high heels! Not to mention, with Halloween right around the corner what better way to get in the spooky spirit than with a pair of…

Right now I am obsessing over shoes with scallop detailing! A big hit for spring and a trend that I am carrying over into the fall, scallop detailing is simple and feminine and can add a unique touch to your ensemble. I love it because it is so versatile; I can be flirty and sweet in a pair of cute scalloped flats or spice things up with an edgy outfit and a pair of hot scalloped heels. Whatever your taste, scalloped details are the perfect way to enhance your look!

Every year I go through a list of shoe styles I don’t already own and mark them off as I buy them. At the top of my Fall/Winter boot list are western boots. I will be hopping on my high horse with these super cute western boot styles. From short to tall boot styles I’ve found beautiful leathers, humbling tassels, and rugged pull tabs gracing the silhouettes. With rich hues and cool textures there’s something for everyone to love!

Let’s take a pause from the runway to focus on some great high street fashion. If you’ve been rocking sky high stilettos all month to keep up with fashion week, take a break by slipping on some of the most comfortable flat shoes you’ll ever wear. Lately H&M has been my absolute favorite for flat shoes. Why? They don’t need breaking in! What!? Yes. Really. I was shocked too. Normally when I buy flats, it takes a day or two, sometimes even weeks of blistering heels and toes to break them in. I keep band-aides in my purse for the very purpose of cushioning my feet while…

It’s been awhile since we’ve featured handbags here on Heelcandy and so this week’s fashion week roundup will include some of my favorite Milan street style arm candy.  Bold pops of color, miniature sizes, stunning detailing, all were readily present at the quadrilatero della moda. Mini yellow Celine bag? So cute! Yellow was a popular handbag choice this week among the fashionistas. I’m especially loving the two pairings here, white with a bold pop of yellow is so stunning. Speaking of white + pops of color…I love everything about this look. Simple and clean…

Instead of runway, this week will be about the amazing street shoes we’ve been spotting around the alleyways of London during Fashion Week. From sneakers to Birkenstocks to sky high stilettos, there’s just so much to love.   Chanel sneakers with distressed boyfriend jeans? I’m insanely jealous. High luxury turned into chic casual. Mirrored wedges? Yes please! That heel, gorgeous. Can you tell what animal/creature this is? Someone enlighten me. Strappy Sandals and fun colorblocking. From the street style to audience members to runway models, I feel like I can’t browse through everything I want fast enough! Now that NYFW is over, which trends and designers were your favorites? I personally have my eyes affixed to the chunky lucite heel trend. Calvin Klein went clean and chic with a black shoe with a clear lucite heel. Monique Lhuillier added a twist with a gorgeous purple ombre effect. And Christian Siriano’s minty ice princess version is my absolute favorite.

I’ve long been a fan of OTBT (Off the Beaten Track) footwear since the release of their Springfield low-heeled wedge. The fine folk at OTBT picked up on my enthusiasm and asked if I’d like to try a new style. Perhaps I should have gone for a practical flat, or ubiquitous ankle boot, but the OTBT Reform caught my eye and I couldn’t look away. When the trees turn red, gold and orange, it’s time to start wearing all those tasty purples: merlot, burgundy, plum, mulberry and the color of these wedges–eggplant. The OTBT Reform features an oiled nubuck upper (also…

Clark’s 2014 fall collection will make you question if the shoes are truly Clark’s. Modern lines, sculpted heels, asymmetrical zippers decry the Clark’s of old: either crepe-soled Wallabies from Clark’s UK or mary janes, lace-ups and slip-ons…oh my. This season brings the Clark’s Purity Frost pictured above; a shootie with a 3 1/4″ sculpted wedge heel, Ortholite footbed and side zipper. Initial comfort reports from online customers look promising, if you’re a heel wearer. But if you don’t do heels, I wouldn’t make these your first,…

A recent reader request: I wanted to ask if you would consider writing review of wide calf boots. I have a size 7.5 medium width — maybe bordering on wide width — but I have a 17.75″ calf which makes boot shopping nearly impossible! I have a pair of Duo Boots which are beautiful but not very supportive. Sure! I’ll make some informed recommendations for wide calf boots even though I have scrawny calves. When it comes to figures, I’m a pear on stick–narrow shoulders, smallish chest and then I flare out somewhere after that and end with two skinny calves,…

Thank you to Cobb Hill for sending me the Tori oxford for review. This video was shot on the fly by my husband, Chris Borrink. If I seem a little distracted by my dog, consider he is a Wheaten Terrier. He sniffs everything and tugs on walks.  He is not trained, but he is exuberant and makes life happier. As far as the shoes, I love them. They’re my low-profile, cushiony, blue suede kicks. In the video, I decided to show you the inside of the shoe which you really can’t see and I’m not sure why the inside matters, but the fabric is cute. I’ll also point out that I…

The Nike Zoom KD IV pushes on with its success due to this latest Thunder home theme that would recently hit the retailers’ shops. Just like the previous sneakers presented by Durant for the Thunder Home games, this model is seen on its white based color that would match the home uniforms of OKC. The white color is seen on its dominant look with some photo blue seen on the strap of the swoosh. It also has obsidian color on the midsole. There are hints of orange all over that tops off the Thunder inspiration which also takes care of the liner of the tongue and the brand all throughout.

I know I've been terrible at posting but Fall is such a busy time that it's hard for me to get on the computer to write when I'm out and about! That said, here's a small cameo shot from a recent outing.  My co-worker took a picture of my shoes, the JCrew leopard Ettas, and my husband's stripy socks.  We're co-ordinated in a "power clashing" kind of way.I'm also going to give these babies a try… the Sophia Webster Mila booties (I've been eyeing them up for a while) and...… the Valentino runway Carmen booties.   They're so impractical but I'm so in love with them.

Everyone is loving the Lucifer Louboutins today. They are well named, because, damn… they are high even for me. I do have two peeves about them, as gorgeous as they are, though.1. The spikes have dulled a bit after 2 years but I can't think of a way to polish them up.and2. The sizing, as with all Louboutins, are wildly inconsistent.  I mean I had to go a full size down with these - from a 35 to a 34.  That's just crazy! But at the end of the day, you just can't fault them because they are so darn good.Something good, something bad? Bit of both?

I love the Daleks.  They're so evil and snarky.  My people! Now the question is, do I want the mary janes or the booties.  The mary janes are more practical but I'm in love with the booties.Aww, hell, maybe I need both.

Well, of course I'm going to get the Rouge Louboutin nail lacquer. Why would you even need to ask? And if I can manage the 4 3/4" heel, I hope to pair it up with the Louboutin Argotik heel. How sexy is the red cut into the vamp?  Swoon! Also, want to see some sexy Louboutins worn in a sexy way… go see Lucy.  Scarlet looked awesome!

I fell in love with with the pale pink Ralph Lauren Barton ballet pumps from their Resort 2014 show. But, alas, they were sold out in my size. After much sighing and stalking of the Ralph Lauren site, I found that the black version was available, in my size and on sale!It wasn't my first choice but black will be perfect for my Fall 2014 theme and I love how the ribbons wind their way up to tie around my ankles.I'm going to still stalk the pink but the black is happily mine!

However, lucky for us, one of this season’s trends is just the opposite… so many of our favorite waterproof brands have added fashionable styling and design details to their boots, making them cute as ever! Reading the Style.com review of the Spring 2015 Christian Siriano show, I learned that the designer was inspired by the multidimensional glass sculptures of Australian artist Sergio Redegalli. This inspiration led Siriano to experiment with transparency in his collection. For the footwear, his inspiration is seen in the frosted heels, plastic sandals with a sculptural element and the spiky “ice” crystals. Zimbio Thank you for visiting Queen in Heels. Alexander Wang’s show was an ode to sneakers. The designer drew inspiration from the shoe shelves of Nike and Addias (maybe even Puma) for his entire Spring 2015 collection and the shoes were no exception. Intimating the sporty look of a sneaker through use of materials that includes, mesh and thick rubber soles, Wang still managed to keep the footwear feminine. images: Zimbio Thank you for visiting Queen in Heels. Stuart Weitzman has a new face for its fall advertising campaign, Gisele Bündchen. The campaign, shot by Mario Testino, which I thought would be rather racy – judged by first photo – is rather simple. The fall campaign focuses on the boots in the collection including, an update of the popular 5050 style. Weitzman chose the supermodel because, “She exemplifies the Stuart Weitzman woman with her zest of life, love and family.” Thank you for visiting Queen in Heels. There’s something about leaving your mobile phone at home that makes you feel like you’ve lost a limb. There’s something about leaving my handbag at home that makes me feel very much the same. I’m usually defined by what my friends call my ‘Mum Bag’; it houses everything I could ever possibly need for a day out. For an evening, I’ll pick a smaller affair, usually with a long strap, that snugly fits a purse, phone, key and lipstick, for touch-ups. On Friday I ventured out with no bag whatsoever. It felt oddly liberating. But at the same time, I found myself reaching around to…

The hard part is choosing what size you need. They don’t exactly teach it in school. But there are a few simple tips you can follow to help you find your correct belt size.
